Naveddu Nilladiddare (NND), a network of women’s organisations on gender justice, has urged the State government to stand firm in its decision to invite author and International Booker Prize winner Banu Mushtaq to inaugurate the Mysuru Dasara festival.
“We welcome the decision of the Government of Karnataka to invite the eminent Kannada writer and this year’s Booker Prize winner Banu Mushtaq to inaugurate the world-famous Mysuru Dasara festival. We also strongly condemn the attacks being carried out against her by communalists and religious fundamentalists who have raked up an ugly and unnecessary controversy,” said a statement from the NND.
